Polar Plunge - Update
Dear Harrisburg Polar Plunge supporter,

THANK YOU for supporting the athletes of Special Olympics PA! Area M took 48 athletes to Winter Games this week to compete in Alpine Skiing and Ice Speed Skating. They had a GREAT time and did really well in their competitions! The donations you collect through the Harrisburg Polar Bear Plunge help to make that possible.

I am sure with all of the winter weather we have been getting over the past week you are wondering if we will be Taking The Plunge for Special Olympics on Saturday, February 22nd. The answer is YES! However, we won’t be able to have the event on City Island due to the ice on the beach of the island. We will now be Plunging at Gifford Pinchot State Park in the Conewago Day Use Area. Wait a minute….didn’t you say that we couldn’t use Pinchot Park when the event was originally postponed? Yes, and the area of the lake we looked at at that time is still unusable. However, we have been given permission to use the Conewago Day Use Area and are able to make the event work from that side of the lake.

We highly encourage you to attend our Warm-Up Registration Party on Friday, February 21st from 4:00pm – 9:00pm at the CAIU – 55 Miller St, Summerdale, PA. This will allow you to hand in all donations, pick-up your t-shirt and incentives, sign your waiver, get your plunge bracelet and shop for sportswear in a nice warm area as well as save you time on Plunge Day. Our Plunge Day schedule will remain the same:
Plunge registration & Sign in: 9:30am – 11am
Chillville opens at 10am
Costume Contest Regstration begins at 10:30am
Costume Contest Judging begins at 11:00am
Opening Ceremonies & Awards will begin immediately following the Costume Contest
Staging for Plunge Waves – 11:45am
12:00 Noon – Wave 1 Takes The Plunge!

We will still have Iglooville and ask that tents be dropped off in that area prior to 9:30am. If you haven’t signed up for Iglooville and would like to please email Kristie with the following information by 5pm on Tuesday, Feb 18th: Name, Team Name, if you are bringing 1 or 2 10x10 tents.

While there is plenty of parking at Gifford Pinchot State Park we do highly encourage carpooling!
