Area
M loves our corporate sponsors! Without their financial assistance, we would not be able to hold
or attend many competitions. We would
not be able to provide practice sessions and uniforms for our athletes.
Special
Olympics athletes participate at no cost to themselves or their families.
Contrary to popular belief, Special Olympics is not a federally funded organization. We raise the necessary funds through individual and corporate support, charitable foundations, fundraising, and other special events.
When you or your
business sponsors Special Olympics-Area M , the rewards from helping our
athletes reach new goals far outweigh the costs. In addition, you are
significantly enhancing the lives of our athletes, since Special Olympics
improves their self-image and their ability to function socially.
Special Olympics - Area M also raises funds through a variety of support activities, including fundraising and special events. While singular involvement is welcome, individuals are also encouraged to get their employers involved--either through financial support, donations of products or services, or event sponsorship. Corporate Sponsorship
Corporate donations typically range from $100 to $1,000.
Companies may make donations in the
name of a special employee or customer. In this case, a certificate will be
provided for presentation.
Businesses may sponsor or help sponsor
an event or a particular sport. Costs for sponsorship usually ranges from $500
- $3,500.
Your business can also sponsor a
fundraising event such as a hole at our Golf Outing, Cabin Fever Games or the
Walkathon. Contact Area M office for further details about sponsorship via
e-mail or call 732-6756.
Additionally, companies may provide
grants to charitable organizations such as Special Olympics. These donations
range from about $500 - $5,000.
Businesses can contribute products or
services (In-kind donations) to be used by Special Olympics for events or
management. The cost of these items is also tax-deductible.
Useful items include:

Food or beverages for
an event or fundraiser
·
New items for
fundraising auction or golf tournaments.
·
Office supplies,
equipment, computers
·
Sports equipment,
such as: Balls, Goals, Uniforms, Warm-up suits, First-aid kits and supplies, Practice
and Competition sites, Training aids, etc.
· Services such as: Printing, Silk Screening, Engraving, Computer programming/support, Internet Services, Transportation - Van or Bus rentals.
Individual Sponsorship
Individual donations can be made in your name. Contributions can also be made
in the name of an individual or family that has experienced mental illness.
Memorial funds are often given instead of flowers in memory of someone who has
passed. Some people remember Special
Olympics Area M in their wills. Some
businesses may have matching contribution programs. Check with your human resources office.
Also, remember, when you donate to the
United Way, you may designate Area M Special Olympics.
Fundraising
Area M Special Olympics offers many quality fundraising items for sale
year-round. Print out the online order forms, and submit them by mail (with
checks) to Special Olympics PA Area M, P.O. Box 382, Summerdale, PA 17093
or Fax No. (717)732-8414.
Items will change about every 6 weeks and average cost is usually $10-$25 plus
tax and S&H. Possible fundraising items include Candles, Flowers, Fruit,
Tickets to events, Special Olympics clothing and souvenirs, etc. To find out
